Slammers Holzemer 2025
Sam Harry: Outfielder – Castle View HS - [Sacramento State]
What box hasn’t Sam Harry checked? He’s got size: 6-6, 190 lbs. He’s got athleticism: 3.83s, 30-yard sprint is the 5th fastest in the Slammers 2025 class. This summer he hit .357 in 44 games with 5 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 home runs. He was 12-for-12 on stolen bases and he walked more than he struck out (18:11).
What coach says: “Sam is a right-handed hitting outfielder who is a very athletic, runs well, and has a good arm. Sam has a balanced set-up and a good approach at the plate. He has room to add strength to his frame. He’s a very good defensive outfielder. Sam is an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA.”
What the data says: He’s got size. He’s an elite athlete. He hits. This is a Division 1 baseball player.
Josh McWilliams: Outfielder – Chaparral HS - [Fort Hays State - (11/3/24)]
McWilliams is an accomplished right-handed bat who hit .388 and got on base at a .508 clip over the course of 43 games this summer. He struck out just 6 times in 125 plate appearances. He’s an above-average athlete at 5-11, 161 lbs. and runs plenty for all three outfield positions.
What coach says: “Josh is an athletic player who runs well, gets good jumps on the ball in the outfield and has an accurate arm. He has a short compact swing and has been a leadoff hitter for us. He is a good baserunner. Josh is an excellent student with a 3.5 GPA.”
What the data says: One of the toughest outs on a loaded Holzemer 2025 roster.
Christian Lopez: Outfielder / LHP - Regis Jesuit HS - [Cal State Bakersfield - (11/4/24)]
Lopez is a highly-skilled, two-way player who gets the most out of his lithe, 6-2, 150 lb. frame. This summer he hit .462 in 123 PA, walked more than struck out (21:17), and put his easy, plus speed (8 Loden Speed Score) on display while going 26-for-27 on stolen base attempts. As if that wasn’t enough, on the mound, he runs it into the high-80’s and only allowed 8 hits and 6 ER in 22.1 IP while striking out 23 with a 1.88 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. Lopez will need to add physicality in the next year or two, but he has as good of a present skillset as any player in the Slammers organization and added physicality will only make that skillset play-up. He’s positioned well to be an immediate option when he gets on campus.
What coach says: “Christian has elite speed and get incredible jumps in the outfield. He can fly. He’s a line drive hitter who is really twitchy. He is an above-average outfielder with a strong and accurate arm. On the mound, he is 87-89 and has a lot of room to grow on his frame. His fastball gets a ton of run and he has an excellent change up. He needs to put on 15-20 Pounds, and he could really be something special.”
What the data says: Great runner and skilled on both sides of the ball.
Slammers Austin 2025
Nate Wochner: Right-Handed Pitcher – Broomfield HS - [BYU - (10/19/24)]
A two-way talent with relatively low-mileage on his arm, Wochner has Slammers coaches buzzing at what he could become in the next year. Wochner is a plus athlete at a tick over 6-4, 190 lbs. and you could easily see him adding another +15-20 lbs. as he gets stronger and physically matures. His future is on the bump where he struck out 12 in 13.1 innings this summer. He’ll feature there this fall for Slammers Austin 2025. Look for an upper-80’s fastball that has climbed up to 92 recently as well as two developing breaking pitches and a changeup.
What coach says: “Nate started the summer sitting 85 and topping at 87, but finished the season sitting 88-89 and topping 92. At 6-5 and only 190 lbs., a 4.2 GPA, and a 1200 SAT, he’s a late-bloomer that will pay dividends.”
What the data says: He’s going to throw harder. Athletic pitchers with size and physical projection will throw harder.
Fabian Gaeta: Left-Handed Pitcher – Prairie View HS - [Colorado Northwestern CC]
This is a funky left-handed arm that throws a ton of strikes and gets out. Gaeta measures in at almost 6-2, 175 lbs. and has plenty of room to fill-out more as he gets stronger. A good athlete, Gaeta allowed just 7 hits and 4 walks in 17.2 innings this summer while striking out 23. He posted a sub-1.00 ERA and a .113 batting average against while throwing a ton of strikes with a three-pitch mix that consists of a high-80’s, high-carry fastball; a nasty low-70’s changeup with sink and fade; and a high-60’s curveball.
What coach says: “On a team with 5 committed D1 arms, Gaeta stood out as the #1 pitcher on the staff this summer in all the stats that matter. He had the lowest WHIP and BAA while posting an almost 5:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.”
What the data says: This is a projectable lefty with a track record of getting outs who has two unique pitches with plus movement profiles.
Brek Benedict: Left-Handed Pitcher – Fossil Ridge HS - [Northern Colorado - (9/6/24)]
This is another impressive lefty on Slammers Austin 2025 who threw well all summer. Benedict struck out 24 in 19 innings while only giving up 11 hits and generated swing and miss on 17% of pitches thrown – the highest such percentage for Slammers 2025 arms. At 5-10, 171 lbs., Benedict utilizes a three-pitch mix consisting of a fastball in the mid-80’s with sink; a curveball in the mid-70’s that spins at 2500 rpm; and a high-70’s changeup with sink and fade.
What coach says: “If you don’t like guys who can throw strikes, get outs, and can throw a plus curveball or changeup in any count then he’s not your guy.”
What the data says: He’s got swing-and-miss stuff and it’s been proven on the circuit.
Mason Griffin: Outfielder – Fossil Ridge HS - [Northern Colorado - (9/17/24)]
An accomplished two-sport athlete (football), Griffin is one of the more physically-exciting players in the Slammers program. He posted a .98 Engine Score (factors in a rebound jump test and a rotational med-ball throw) back in May during his athletic evaluation which puts him right next to a pair of Slammers in professional baseball – Max Kuhns (tops at 98 on the mound) and Garrett Martin (some of the top exit velocities in the Yankees system). After showing off his athleticism in May, the 6-2, 200 lb. outfielder posted a strong .309 average with an .898 OPS in 28 games while striking out just 8 times in 86 plate appearances. Another late-bloomer, there’s big power to be tapped into here.
What coach says: “Mason played his first full year of highly competitive travel baseball and it didn’t take long for his freakishly athletic tools to catch on to the speed of the game. He’s unpolished and he’s still a gem. He’s too gifted to not bet on him.”
What the data says: High-Major Division 1 tools.
Slammers Givens 2025
Anthony Graziano: Right-Handed Pitcher – Cherry Creek HS - [Lubbock Christian]
In 39.2 IP this summer, Graziano allowed 33 hits, 11 earned runs, 27 walks, 42 strikeouts, a 1.94 ERA, and opponents hit just .219 against him. Measuring in at 6-2, 170 lbs. – and with more coming on the frame – he mixes a fastball in the mid-to-upper 80’s with riding life; a nasty, low-spin mid-70’s split-change (1100 rpm); and a developing slider that sits in the mid-70’s and spins upwards of 2400 rpm.
What coach says: “Graziano has a live arm, a developing slider, and an outstanding split-change with lots of swing-and-miss.”
What the data says: Chance for 3 real competitive pitches. The more strikes he throws, the tougher he’s going to be.
Owen Elser: Outfielder – Cherry Creek HS - [Colorado School of Mines (9/6/2024)]
The speedy Elser has turned heads all summer for his impressive showcase 60 times. He recently posted a 3.67s, 30-yd sprint with Slammers – the fastest we have on record. At 5-11, 156 lbs., he’s still growing and he made some major strides with his physical tools during last off-season’s AVP program. A late bloomer, Elser posted a .267 batting average this summer across 43 games with a stellar .472 OBP. Putting his elite speed to use, he successfully stole 27 bases in 29 tries.
What coach says: “Elser has elite speed, shows signs of pop, and is raw and very coachable.”
What the data says: One of the best pure athletes to come through Slammers in recent years.
Zach Perry: Middle Infielder – Rock Canyon HS - [Chandler Gilbert CC]
In 39 games this summer, Perry hit .406 with a 1.096 OPS, led all 2025’s in triples with 6, and walked more than he struck out (22:14). At 6-0, 165 lbs., there’s a bit more physical projection on an already solid athlete.
What coach says: “Perry is a pure hitter. He’s a gap-to-gap doubles guy. Likely finds a full-time home at second base. Dawg!”
What the data says: Perry is a solid athlete who should provide defensive versatility and carries a strong track record with the bat.
Slammers Loseke 2025
Maverick Scarpella: Left-Handed Pitcher – Broomfield HS - [Indian Hills CC]
Scarpella is a bit of a gem. This is a 5-11, 200 lb. bulldog left-handed pitcher who can spin the hell out of the baseball. He punched out 81 across 56.2 IP this summer while allowing just 37 hits and posting a 2.35 ERA. Opponents hit just .176 against him. Scarpella mixes a fastball in the mid-80’s with a pair of high-spin breaking balls (2600+ rpm) in the 70’s, and a mid-70’s changeup. He’s a high-academic student to boot. With just over 20 varsity innings to his name, the best is yet to come for Mav.
What coach says: “Scarpella is a #1 guy on the mound. He’s a left-handed pitcher with a true three-pitch mix. He’s 87-89 with the fastball with a big spin rate on the breaking ball.”
What the data says: He’s going to continue to post gawdy strikeout numbers from the left-side with his high-spin breaking pitches.
Cooper Nider: Outfielder – Eaton HS - [Chandler Gilbert CC]
At 5-11, 165 lbs., this is one of the better athletes in the 2025 Slammers class. Also a football player, Nider hit .252 this summer – but nearly half of his hits went for extra bases and he got on base at a near .400 clip. He led all 2025’s this summer with 3 HR, and tallied 5 triples and 3 doubles. In May, he posted a max exit velocity of 95.3 MPH with wood during an in-house evaluation hitting off a high-speed pitching machine using a Rapsodo.
What coach says: “Nider is a right fielder with a plus arm that shows power at the plate.”
What the data says: He’s an athlete who’s going to do damage with the bat.
Austin Muir: Outfielder – Erie HS - [Chandler Gilbert CC]
This is another outfielder who had an outstanding summer with the bat. Muir hit .347 in 46 games and found himself running more often than not as he tallied 9 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 home runs. At a tick under 6-0, 160 lbs., Muir has the athleticism to be an above-average collegiate defender in the outfield. As he adds strength in the coming year, expect him to grow into even more impact with the bat.
What coach says: “Muir is my 4-hole guy. He’s a very good outfield defender, has good power, and can hit to the whole field.”
What the data says: More thump than you’d expect.
Garet Vail: Catcher – Broomfield HS
At almost 6-2, 179 lbs., Vail is a strong combination of size and athleticism behind the plate. While he runs plenty (sub-4.00s, 30-yd sprint) to cover a corner outfield spot, this summer he threw out 25% (14) of attempted base stealers. At the plate, he posted 5 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 home runs while getting on base about 40% of the time. He has a power over hit offensive profile and there should be more coming as he fills out.
What coach says: “Vail is a catcher for me, but I see him as an outfielder at the next level. He has plus speed and hits with power. There’s a little swing-and-miss, but definitely getting better with that.”
What the data says: Above-average athleticism at the catcher position with impact in the bat.
Alex Martin: Third Baseman – Loveland HS - [Northeast CC]
Martin is a 5-11, 186 lb., left-handed hitting third baseman who hit .358 in 45 games this summer while getting on base at a .462 clip and walking more than he struck out. A capable defender at third base, he committed just 6 errors in 76 total chances this summer. Over 76% of his 120 at-bats were tagged as Quality At-Bats per GameChanger – the next closest Slammers hitter was around 68% (inclusive of almost 700 high school player-seasons over the last 3 years). Martin is a hitter and hitters always find themselves in the lineup.
GameChanger's definition of a QAB: any at-bat with at least one of the following: 3 pitches after 2 strikes, 6+ pitches, extra base hit, walk, SAC bunt, SAC fly.
What coach says: “Martin is my 3-hole. He’s a third baseman with excellent plate discipline and can hit to all parts of the field. We’re working on his power numbers as a corner guy this fall.”
What the data says: Quality at-bat machine.
Slammers Baldini 2025
Dustin Bennett: Outfielder – Holy Family HS - [Southeastern Iowa CC]
Dustin Bennett is a burner. At 5-9, 165 lbs., Bennett sits in elite company with the aforementioned-Owen Elser and Trevor Gottsegen (fastest player at 2024 PG National) as the only three current Slammers players with a Loden Speed Score of 9. This is one of the fastest players in the country. In 37 games this summer, he hit .352 and got on base every other time he came to the plate. He grabbed 19 stolen bases in 20 tries while patrolling center field.
What coach says: “Dustin super athletic and quick twitchy, runs a 6.4 60-yd, and tracks balls well in centerfield. He has good pop at the top of lineup and is an all-around hard-worker and team guy.”
What the data says: He’ll be the fastest player on whatever field he plays on next. Speed kills.
NEWCOMERS
As a number of our guys head into football season, expect to see a few new faces turning heads this fall…
Slammers Holzemer 2025
Jackson Pfister: Right-Handed Pitcher – Grandview HS - [Northern Colorado]
Pfister has shown off an upper-80’s cutter and mid-70’s slider with a low-effort delivery out of a sturdy 6-2, 195 lb. frame. Division 1 size and athlete (Loden 6) here.
What coach says: “Jax is very athletic. He is 85-89 with a good breaking ball and changeup. He’s a big physical kid with more in the tank. He is also a 1B/OF who has some power. He moves well around the bag. Really a competitive player.”
Tyler Harvey: Left-Handed Pitcher – Legend HS - [UNLV - (10/16/24)]
A second, strong-framed arm added to Slammers Holzemer 2025 for the fall is Tyler Harvey. This is a really good athlete (Loden 6) in a 6-4, 180 lb. frame – in fact, he’s an above-average runner which usually translates to projecting velocity gains. While he sat in the mid-80’s this summer with his fastball, there’s more in the tank and it’s coming. Big frame. Check. Good athlete. Check. Left-handed. Check.
What coach says: “He is an 84-87 and has touched 89. He has an excellent slider. He is working on his changeup. Tyler is a very good student with a 3.92 GPA.”
Slammers Givens 2025
Jackson Tuttle: Right-Handed Pitcher – Highlands Ranch HS - [Crowder College - (10/17/24)]
This is a new-comer for the fall, but a name to keep an eye out for. Tuttle has a good frame and has shown pitchability recently.
What coach says: “Tuttle is a late-bloomer. He’s 86-90 with a plus curveball and he’s developing a split-finger change.”
